Another Anxiously Hopeful Wait

October 20, 2008
Ok, so some good news today! We have eliminated one of the three possibilities of Fry's diagnosis.

Fry does NOT have Lymphoma! Hooray!

Dr Amy did not work today and called us from her cell phone, which leads us to believe that she got the information from the pathologist via email or fax. She needs to further investigate with the pathologist the results. Fry either has a severe case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS/IBD) or FIP. It is difficult for her to tell based on the information she has. She is going to meet with the pathologist tomorrow and hopefully give us a diagnosis based on his/her professional opinion.

And again, what I say now is said with cautious optimism…

After looking up the symptoms of IBS, it seems likely to D and I that this is the cause of Fry’s discomfort and weight loss.

Symptoms include:
Vomiting:
Fry was a little vomit machine for a while when he was about 9 months old. The vet we took him to at the time said that it was most likely a heartburn-type issue.

Weight Loss/anorexia type symptoms:
Check! But he does not seem as boney as he was a few weeks ago

Black, tarry poop:
Check!

Flatulence:
Yes, Fry farts, and yes it is funny... sometimes…

Abdominal Pain:
The only thing Fry hates about the vet is getting his lower stomach checked. That is the only time he has really made any sign or noise of discomfort.

Stomach Rumbling:
I haven't noticed

Diarrhea:
When he was younger he did experience some constipation, including pellet poop and soft diarrhea-like poop.

So!! Everyone think IBS IBS IBS! The treatable illness!
