Fry vs. Dog

Today we took Fry to the vet to get his needed shots. Since he has started to totally freak out every time we put him in his carrier we decided to go a different route. Now some of you may think that all cats hate going in their carriers.

Not so!

Fry used to LOVE getting into his carrier and would just hop in whenever we motioned for him to get in. It's very vexing to not know why he suddenly started freaking out. It's a life or death struggle! Even when we are leaving the vet he still fights like hell to not get in. The last time we visited Dr Amy, we ran into a guy just holding his cat, no harness, no leash and no carrier. Knowing that Fry is an easy going cat we decided to try just having him in the car with his leash and harness on.

He was completely fine! He loves looking out the windows, peering over Dan's shoulder, crawling all over me (in the back seat) and laying on the seat or floor. He is such a good kitty!

After everything was taken care of and it was time to go home, we went out to the check out/waiting room. There was a dog! Brown and white like a pointer/hunter breed. Fry was on the floor just looking at him, no hissing, growling or tail blowing up. The dog's owner obliged us with some carefully guarded sniffing by both animals while they were both held on tight leashes. They sniffed noses and then the dog jumped back and started whining and Fry was like "what the hell are you doing?" We decided then that he is ok with dogs and probably doesn't know what a dog is having never really seen one.

My other boss Kara and her boyfriend has the sweetest dog named Jasmine. She reminds me a lot of Fry: very intelligent and very mischievous. I think they'd like each other! When we arrange a play date with them I will be sure to take pictures!
